Service

Underclassmen focus on serving their school, parish, and local neighborhood, building habits of responsibility and awareness while learning the value of giving back to their immediate community.

Upperclassmen broaden their horizons by committing to service with established community agencies, developing deeper relationships and a stronger understanding of social justice issues.

As a requirement for graduation, seniors must complete service hours at an approved agency during the fall of their senior year. This service is integrated into the Senior Project for the Social Justice class and is a key component of the capstone experience at Tri-Cities Prep.

Students enrolled in Social Justice are required to complete:

• 40 hours of service working with individuals and communities who are marginalized in society, including but not limited to:

  • The impoverished

  • The homeless

  • The elderly

  • At-risk youth

  • Individuals with mental or physical disabilities

• Up to 30 hours may be completed during the summer, provided the Service Contract is completed in advance.

• The remaining 10 hours must be completed during the semester in which the Social Justice class is taken.

Important:
The Social Justice Service Contract must be completed, signed, and submitted to Mr. Potter prior to beginning any service hours.

Students enrolled in Apologetics are also required to complete an additional:

• 20 hours of service

These hours must be completed during the semester in which the student is taking Apologetics, unless prior permission is granted by Mrs. Sarrazolla. This service may be completed at any approved agency.
